Indexing information

Hello,

Another question: is there a way to grab lower-level index  
information beyond functions like global_from_local_index or Domains,  
e.g. something closer to PITFALLS?  I'm guessing any information like  
that is probably implementation-specific and not addressed in the  
VSIPL++ spec, right?  Thanks.
