PATCH: Provide new SimpleCompilationTest and SimpleCompiledResource extensions

The attached patch provides a new test class and a new resource class,
useful for tests that require source compilation. The new test subclasses
the existing CompilerTest test, which was slightly modified and cleaned up
to prepare it to be subclassed.
The Result class has a new method 'CheckExitStatus' that replaces similar
repetive code at various places.
