std-out comparisons under windows

QMTest,
I am running QMTest under Windows (XP).  When I try to do something like
a command.ExecTest (where there is an expectation of certain std-out
and/or exit codes), the test always fails.  QMTest always insists that
the std-out and/or std-err and/or exit code do not match the expected
values.  
I've scanned the mailing list index and the listings suggest that I'm
dealing with a problem that was fixed quite awhile ago.  NOTE: I am
working with QMTest 2.3 (I downloaded qm-2.3.win32.exe).
Can you help me?
