Binary results file?

I've just noticed that results.qmr file written
by "qmtest run", stored from gui, or file given
in "-o" option to "qmtest run" are not XML anymore.
And there's no option to make it XML.

I think that's very bad. In particular, I have a script
that used to process the XML results file and do
something meaningfull. I was just going to write another
such script. Using pickled representation for result prevents
this usage.

What was the rationale for the change?

Is it possible to support both pickled and XML results file?
For command line part the change will be very simple. For GUI
it will be needed to pass the type of results. (I actually believe
that GUI should always store XML results...)
