You're on the right track.  That cruft is disgusting; we revamped some
aspects of Fields for 2.0 so that we would't have to do this kind of thing;
that's what tuple fields are for.

Your change is correct, but I will see if I can clean this up a bit.  If
I can't, your way will work.
