Ah, it turned out to be simple: add "install pdb" to mirror.py, then
"pdb.set_trace()", run qmtest gui, and start stepping.  pdb actually
shows intermediate errors, and got things fixed.

Now to figure out how to use context info from ShellCommandTest and
I'll be all set...
