OK - it's not quite the answer I was hoping for, but it's good to have 
an answer anyway!

I note that P&E's development kit supports the debugger (not surprising, 
really).  I don't know if that support is only with their own debugger 
software, or with gdb - they certainly supply gcc as the compiler 
toolchain, but I don't know about gdb.  If they support gdb, then that 
may be a way to get your gdb builds working with their debugger - and it 
might give you starting point for supporting the debugger.

Once we have the debugger and an evaluation board, I'll be trying out 
various toolchains (CodeWarrior, Code Sourcery gcc, and P&E's 
development bundle).  This could mean I'll have to use a different 
debugger, such as P&E's or CodeWarrior, while testing the Code Sourcery 
gcc - I'm sure I'll get something working.

I'll post a comment here when (if!) I've got things working, in the hope 
that it helps CodeSourcery (or other CodeSourcery users) get your tools 
working with this debugger.
