Richard:
KCC patented those optimizations. That is apparently a significant part
of the intellectual property Intel wanted from KCC, although apparently
not to implement it themselves, but, just to make sure no one had it,
as far as I can tell. Maybe I'm getting a little too cynical in my old
age.
