patch doof2d

[Stephen Smith]

This patch attempts to rationalize all the doof2d benchmarks, so we can
perform
direct performance comparisons for the new field.  All the UMP versions etc.
are
no longer necessary.

Tested on linux, with and without --messaging.  Approved by Oldham.
