USBDM looks interesting.  We will consider adding support for it in 
Sourcery G++ sprite when it becomes popular.

Meanwhile, the API of USBDM seems to be a superset of OSBDM API, so it 
may be possible to write a proxy OSBDM driver library that would 
implement OSBDM API requests in terms of USBDM.
