I do not know why the P&E library is detecting something on COM1 then.  It's 
possible that it is not possible to autodetect this device, so it is listed as 
present in order for you to be able to select it.

Ah, I think I recognize that.  If so, it will be fixed in the Fall release, 
which will be released next week.
