Certainly, the BFD assertion error indicates that something about the
archive doesn't match binutils expectation.  However, it doesn't look
like you're using Sourcery G++: we've never used Binutils 2.10 for
ColdFire.  So, you might want to start by downloading our toolchains;
it's possible that the version of Binutils either works or provides a
better error message.
